Calculate your Body Mass Index
About BMI (Body Mass Index)
BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. It is calculated by dividing your weight (in kilograms) by the square of your height (in meters).
BMI Categories:
- Below 18.5: Underweight
- 18.5 - 24.9: Normal weight
- 25.0 - 29.9: Overweight
- 30.0 - 34.9: Obesity class I
- 35.0 - 39.9: Obesity class II
- 40.0 and Above: Obesity class III
BMI is a useful tool, but it does have limitations. It doesn't account for muscle mass, bone density, or body composition. Athletes may have a high BMI due to muscle weight rather than fat. Always consult with healthcare professionals for a complete health assessment.
